Training

The training for the official diploma for a mountain guide takes three years. The modular structure covers all fields of mountaineering, such as avalanche awareness, ice-climbing, ski mountaineering, rock climbing, alpine touring and climbing, rescue techniques, first aid, nature and the environment, management and communication.

Midway through the mountain guiding course, the candidate works to gain experience in leading mountain tours with the support of a qualified mountain guide.

Always look for the IVBV-UIAGM logo – this is the seal of approval for a “genuine” Mountain Guide.
